According to the Auburn Plainsman, an Auburn campus newspaper, Auburn football players have been fatally shot.

As we mentioned earlier, at 1:36am on Sunday morning, the paper unofficially announced that Redshirt Freshman Ed Christian and Ladarious Phillips were killed, with Eric Mack injured and in the hospital.

According to college beat writer Brett Jensen at 1:47am, the shooting occurred at a pool party at an apartment complex, in which numerous Auburn football players attended. From Jensen’s Twitter account:

Police captain Tommy Dawson arrived at the scene at roughly 2:25am, according to Evan Woodbery of the Press-Register, but they are still looking for the shooter, per WSFA-12 News.

Ladarious Phillips played as freshman in 2011, but left Auburn earlier this year, and had been in the Auburn area with his former teammates. As for Ed Christian, he missed all of 2011 with a back injury, after missing the entire 2010 season. Eric Mack came to Auburn in 2010, but had not seen playing time for the Tigers.

UPDATE 3:27am: Per Evan Woodbery of the Press Register, there will not be an official police statement until later in the morning.
