Auburn Football: Key injuries plague the Tigers

The Auburn family found out yesterday that Phillip Lutzenkirchen and Avery Young are both done for the rest of the season. That is a huge loss for the Tigers.

Lutz is one of my favorite players to ever take the field for Auburn. He is way more of an Auburn man than I could ever dream of being.

Even though Lutz is gone he is still teaching and helping these young guys out.Avery Young started the year at right tackle. He was pulled for the LSU game and in came another freshman in Patrick Miller. Now we all know why he was pulled. Young was injured.

Both these losses hurt in more ways than just on the field. Yes, losing your No. 1 player and a young and upcoming offensive lineman hurts. But losing the leader of the whole team hurts worse. Auburn’s offense is going to struggle even more without the leadership and talent of No. 43 in the huddle.

Phillip Lutzenkirchen will end his career with 59 catches for 628 yards. He holds the record for most receiving touchdowns by a tight end with 14.

Here is some of his tweets from yesterday:
