Auburn Football: State of Auburn's future.

The Auburn Tigers are a team that is looking for hope in these dark times going  (1-7) deep into the 2012 season. The possibilities of the tigers winning more than three games are looking slimmer than ever. With a switch offensive schemes and new offense and defensive coordinators, Auburn was bound to have a “building” season. With this many losses from a 2010 National Championship team and SEC powerhouse the room for improvement is getting tighter as time moves on.

Auburn Fans like myself who were all once a fan of the once collected Gene Chizik are losing any hope of having him coach at the university for much longer. The way I see it the tigers have two options. They let him run his contract and absolutely clean house. Chizik is often too loyal to coaches he works with, building a “family” mainly with Trooper Taylor and Curtis Luper who have made no progress since the departure of the championship team. He puts people in the position to win and does it from a business standpoint.

This is an SEC team, we are in it to win it no questions asked.

The other and most probable route that the tigers will take is to fire Chizik and let the next head coach choose to pick his staff at will. Though Chizik has led the tigers to a championship I believe this to be his last season wearing the orange and blue. Alumni, boosters, and sponsors have the power to control the future of this team and will.

Coaching choices have been rumored to be Bobby Petrino, Jimbo Fisher, Charlie Strong and others. With five games left and a defending national title Alabama team coming up it is time for change on the plains.

On a positive note the tigers have young talent and an excellent recruiting class coming in next season. With the right coaching changes, positive spirit, and the Auburn family “All In” we have the potential to be a powerful team.
