Auburn Basketball Lands Commitment From Danjel Purifoy

Auburn basketball took a big step forward with the hiring of Bruce Pearl. The Tigers took another step tonight by landing Danjel Purifoy for the 2015 recruiting class.

Purifoy, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound small forward, made his announcement Friday on ESPNU during the Under Armour Elite 24 Dunk Contest. He is a Centerville, Alabama native, and played for Bibb County in 2013-2014. Purifoy averaged 17.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game last season, but will attend Hargrave Military Academy this year.

247Sports ranks Purifoy as the 57th best player in the nation, and the 347 Composite ranks him 56th. ESPN has Purifoy ranked 50th. He is considered to be a top ten player at his position nationally, and the best high school player in the state of Alabama.

If his commitment holds, the Tigers will have beaten Kentucky and Maryland for Purifoy. According to his ESPN.com profile, Purifoy also has offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State and UAB.
