Auburn Baseball: Former Tigers on the Cusp of the Majors

Here we discuss five former Auburn baseball players that are currently on the cusp of reaching the major leagues.

Spring Training is now in full swing, and there are a handful of former Auburn baseball players in camp for major league teams with a chance to impress the parent club and potentially earn a call up to start the season or later on.

It worked for Tiger alum Grant Dayton, who last year used his first camp with the Los Angeles Dodgers to raise awareness of his abilities. During the season, when the Dodgers need help out of the bullpen, they turned to Dayton, who stayed with the main club for the rest of the season and is now considered one of its main relievers.

Six Tigers were drafted in the major league draft last year, and five players signed. While those players may be a year or two away from their shot, others from previous years are closer.

By the way, a Tiger baseball player has been drafted by a major league team every year since 1975, with a record 11 drafted in 2010.
