Iron Bowl: The Five Greatest Auburn Football Wins Over Alabama (With Video)

Saturday in Tuscaloosa, the Auburn Tigers will face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 79th edition of the Iron Bowl. ESPN College GameDay will be on hand, and the game will be televised in an unusual prime time slot on its traditional Saturday after Thanksgiving.
For Alabama, SEC title and national championship hopes are on the line while the Tigers aim to play the role of the spoiler and capture their second straight win over a top ranked Crimson Tide team. Auburn will carry an 8-3 overall record to Tuscaloosa, while Alabama is 10-1 and ranked No. 1 in the most recent College Football Playoff Rankings.
Most of the greatest games between Auburn and Alabama have followed a similar storyline.

The series is a heated rivalry generally believed to be among the very best in college football. It was suspended in 1907 after disagreements between the two schools, but was started again in 1947 when the Alabama House of Representatives stepped in.
Given the moniker “Iron Bowl” because it was played many years at Legion Field in Birmingham, a city known for its iron and steel production, the games were permanently moved to alternating campus locations in 1998.
There have been many great games in the series, many of which are known by nicknames like “Radio Championship,” “The Run in the Mud,” “The Fumble,” and “Honk if You Sacked Brodie,” among others.
