The Southeastern Conference announced the 2015 SEC Men’s Basketball Postseason awards Tuesday, and Auburn senior guard K.T. Harrell was left off the All-SEC First Team, as determined by the league’s coaches.

Harrell led the SEC with 18.1 points per game, 88 three pointers, 2.84 threes per game and a 43.3% shooting performance from beyond the arc. Overall, Harrell shot 46.1% from the flood and 81.1% from the free throw line, but was not one of the three guards or nine total players named to the first team. Instead, Harrell was listed among the second teamers.

One major reason for Harrell’s snub is sure to be the record of his team. Auburn is 12-19 overall this season and just 4-14 in SEC play. None of the players named to the All-SEC First Team plays for a team with a losing record.

“It is tough to get a first team all-conference player on a team that has finished near the bottom of the league, but I think he would start on any team in this conference,” Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl said last week when campaigning for Harrell to make the first team. “And that says a lot.”

The Montgomery, AL native wasn’t the only Tiger snubbed. Cinmeon Bowers, the junior forward that scored 12.6 points and grabbed 9.7 rebounds on average, was completely left off the coach’s All-SEC lists. Bowers led the SEC in rebounding most of the season and had 14 double-doubles.

Harrell will lead the Tigers into the SEC Tournament this week in Nashville. The 13th seed, Auburn is scheduled to open the tournament Wednesday at 6PM against 12th seeded Mississippi State.
