3. Georgia
Last Season: 8-5 (5-3)
The Good: Todd Gurley is one of the best players in college football at any position, and could win the Heisman Trophy if he stays healthy all season. Gurley missed three full games in 2013 and parts of a few others, yet still ran for 989 yards and ten touchdowns. He also caught 37 passes for 441 yards and a team-leading six touchdown receptions.
The Bad: The offensive line and defensive backfield depth charts are still up in the air. Georgia returns only two starters each on the O-Line and in the secondary, and there has been a lot of mixing and matching on both units throughout the spring and early in fall camp.
The Ugly: Losing Gurley was bad enough, but at least the Bulldogs didn’t lose him for the entire season. Malcolm Mitchell tore his knee up in the season’s first game (and still can’t practice), and Keith Marshall did it a few weeks later – and those two are just the tip of the iceberg. Several Bulldogs were lost for multiple games, and in many cases, for the duration of the season.
