13. Kentucky

Pre-Season Ranking: 14

Last Week: Beat Tennessee-Martin 52-14

The Good: Sure, it was against Tennessee-Martin, but the Kentucky Wildcats looked like a completely different team on offense than they did in 2013. The Wildcats jumped out to a 35-0 lead before halftime and a 52-0 lead in the third quarter. Kentucky had 656 yards of total offense, and threw for 422. Patrick Towles was 20-for-29 passing for 377 yards and a touchdown and was one of four Kentucky players that scored rushing touchdowns. One of them, Nebraska transfer Braylon Heard, had only two carries, but took them both to the end zone. One went 73 yards and the other 43.

The Bad: It is difficult to know if Kentucky has really improved, or if they simply beat a bad team handily. UK excelled on offense and defense, but it is too early to tell whether or not this team is good enough to make a bowl game.

The Ugly: There really isn’t anything that jumps out as ugly about this game for Kentucky. They missed a field goal, so we’ll go with that.

Next Week: vs. Ohio
