11. Missouri

Pre-Season Ranking: 10

Last Week: Beat South Dakota State 38-18

The Good: Quarterback Maty Mauk was solid in his 2014 debut. The sophomore completed 13 of 21 passes for 178 yards, three touchdowns, and did not throw an interception. He connected twice with Darius White for 83 yards and two TDs. Russell Hansbrough had 126 rushing yards and a score, and Marcus Murphy returned a kickoff 100-yards to put the game out of reach in the third quarter.

The Bad: Missouri only outgained the Jackrabbits 393-365 on offense, and had 19 first downs while SDSU managed 15. When opening the season against an FCS opponent, even one ranked in the top ten in their division, one would expect to see a more dominant performance from the defending SEC East champions.

The Ugly: On the first play from scrimmage for the Tigers’ defense, South Dakota State running back Zach Zenner raced 75 yards for a touchdown. That’s not how you want to start a season on defense.
