Last Week’s Result: Beat Sam Houston 56-0
Most games against FCS opponents don’t get much respect, but a 56-0 win over perennial national championship contender Sam Houston should be seen as a very good sign for this LSU team. The defense held the Bearkats to 206 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers.
On offense, the Tigers raced out to a 35-0 lead before halftime, and it started with a huge 94-yard pass from Anthony Jennings to Travin Duval on LSU’s first pay from scrimmage. The Tigers didn’t need to throw much after that, but Jennings and true freshman Brandon Harris combined to go 11-for-18 for 250 yards and four touchdowns.
The running game was even better as six Tigers combined for 334 rushing yards, which included 96 combined yards from the quarterbacks and 92 from true freshman sensation Leonard Fournette. Unfortunately, Fournette became the story of the game for the wrong reasons by striking a Heisman pose following his first career TD.
