Last Week’s Result: Beat Arkansas State

It wasn’t as impressive as the Week 1 win over Utah State, but the Tennessee Volunteers moved to an all-important 2-0 record Saturday with a 34-19 victory over Arkansas State.

Justin Worley, the senior quarterback, was solid yet unspectacular against the Red Wolves. Worley completed 22 of 38 passes for 247 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Both of his TD tosses went to Marquez North, who had 68 receiving yards on four catches.

There has been a lot of talk about the talented true freshmen on the Tennessee roster, particularly running back Jalen Hurd, who found the end zone once among his 23 carries and 83 rushing yards. However, the Vols would like to run a little bit better overall as they averaged only 3.7 yards per carry.

This win was far from guaranteed during the pre-season, and particularly on a short week after UT played last Sunday. But overall, Vols fans should be very happy about their teams’ performance. However, this week will be a real test.
