Aug 30, 2014; Manhattan, KS, USA; Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks offensive lineman David Dane (77) blocks Kansas State Wildcats defensive end Ryan Mueller (44) during the Lumberjacks
#44 Ryan Mueller, 6-foot-2, 245 pounds, Senior, Defensive End
Speaking of All-America candidates, the Wildcats have one on defense as well. The FWAA named Mueller a second team All-American in 2013 after he amassed 11.5 sacks in 13 games. The total is tied for the school’s single season record. The performance also earned Mueller the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year Award from the league’s coaches and a spot on the first team All Big 12 squad.

Not bad for a former walk-on.
“He practices like you would want everybody to practice in terms of his effort, and it’s consistent,” Bill Snyder told the Kansas City Star. “When you are on the field for 10 hours, his last effort is as good as his first. That carries over to the performance level on game day. He is going to play 60 snaps and he is going to play all of them as hard as he can possibly play.”
A Kansas native, Mueller is a bit on the small side for the defensive end position. He is strong and quick, with a nonstop motor and utilizes a speed rush well to put pressure on quarterbacks at the collegiate level, but probably will not be able to stay at the position as a professional.
So far in 2014, Mueller has recorded two tackles for a loss among his five total stops. He has also been credited with half a sack and two quarterback hurries.
