14. Vanderbilt Commodores (1-2, 0-1 SEC)

Last Week’s Result: Beat UMass 34-31

Hey – Vanderbilt won! Derek Mason earned the first victory of his head coaching career in dramatic come from behind fashion. That’s the good news. The bad news? Vandy had to come from behind in dramatic fashion (with the help of a missed 24-yard field goal on the final drive of the game) to beat UMass 34-31. UMass.

The Commodores inexplicably used a fourth quarterback this week as true freshman Wade Freebeck got the starting nod. Freebeck played a quarter before Patton Robinette was called in for relief. Robinette hadn’t played since being yanked early in the season opening disaster against Temple. Stephen Rivers, who started last week’s game, did not play against the Minutemen.

The ‘Dores found a way to win Saturday, but it wasn’t pretty and it may have been their last of the season.

Next Week: vs. South Carolina
