Williams wasn’t the only Auburn Tigers wide receiver that came up big Thursday night in Manhattan. Ricardo Louis sparked the Auburn offense late in the second quarter when he caught a pass from Nick Marshall, side stepped a few potential tacklers and raced to the end zone.

    • The 40-yard pitch, catch and run gave Auburn a 10-7 lead with 1:34 left in the first half. It was a lead the Tigers would never relinquish to the Wildcats, and was surely one of the biggest plays of the ball game.

    Yet, there was another big play featuring Ricardo Louis that might be overlooked when looking at the box score. The junior finished the game with three catches for 55 yards, the vast majority of which occurred on his long touchdown.

    But, late in the third quarter, Marshall found Louis on a check down that the speedster caught and ran nine yards to convert a 3rd-and-9 to extend the drive. He barely made it across the first down line before going out of bounds. The play moved the ball to Auburn’s 45-yard line and eight plays later Marshall found Williams in the end zone to push the Tigers’ lead to 20-7. T

    he play was one of eight third down conversions Auburn converted in the second half on 11 attempts – a major reverse of fortune from the 2-for-7 performance in the first half (and 0-for-5 start to the game).
