6. Arkansas Razorbacks (3-1, 0-1 SEC)
Last Week’s Result: Beat Northern Illinois 52-14
Auburn’s 45-21 win looks better, and better, and better… First, the Razorbacks blasted Nicholls State, and then they outclassed Texas Tech on the road. Saturday, Arkansas demolished a strong Northern Illinois team that should contend for a MAC Championship, is two seasons removed from a BCS bowl game, and came to Fayetteville with a 3-0 record.

Arkansas was much more balanced on offense against the Huskies than they were a week ago against the Red Raiders, and ran for 215 yards while passing for 212. Quarterback Brandon Allen was solid with 15 completions in 22 attempts for 199 yards and two touchdowns. The most telling stats, however, were a 10-for-14 performance on third downs and zero turnovers.
The Hogs held one of the nation’s best rushing offenses (statistically speaking) to only 123 yards on the ground. Plus, the defense allowed only six of 17 combined third and fourth down attempts to succeed. Overall, NIU managed only 303 total yards of offense and the Razorbacks won the turnover battle 1-0.
Now the attention returns to the Southeastern Conference schedule and a neutral site matchup with the Texas A&M Aggies. If Arkansas can continue their winning ways, they will emerge as a major player in the SEC standings.
