Last Week’s Result: Beat LSU

The win of the week – which caused the biggest movement in our weekly SEC Power Rankings – was Mississippi State’s 34-29 victory in Death Valley over the LSU Tigers. The score looks much closer than the game was for the better part of four quarters, but the Tigers did fight back and had the ball with a chance to win on a desperation Hail Mary.

After surrendering exactly zero points in the last ten quarters, the LSU defense allowed 31 in the first three quarters to the Bulldogs. Dak Prescott looked like a Heisman Trophy contender by throwing for 268 yards and two touchdowns and running for 105 yards including a spectacular 56-yard touchdown in the second half.

But Prescott wasn’t the only Bulldog that had a huge game. Josh Robinson ran for 197 yards and a touchdown on only 16 carries – 12.3 yards per attempt – and Jameon Lewis and De’Runnya Wilson each hauled in a touchdown catch. Lewis totaled five catches and 116 yards while Wilson added 91 yards on four receptions.

The Bulldogs will take a much needed week off to prepare for an October 4 showdown with Texas A&M in Starkville.
