Last Week’s Result: Beat Kansas State 20-14
You know by now that the Auburn Tigers escaped the Little Apple with a 20-14 win over Kansas State. The performance was far from impressive, and it cost the Tigers the top spot in our SEC Power Rankings, but Auburn found a way to get a victory on the road against a top 20 opponent. So, overall, it wasn’t so bad.

D’haquille Williams was the player of the game for Auburn. The junior college transfer caught eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown. The nine-yard TD gave the Tigers a 17-7 lead, but the most important may have been a 39-yard reception to move the sticks on 3rd-and-9 with 2:06 left to play.
As good as Williams was – and quarterback Nick Marshall had his moments as well – the story of the game was the tough play of the defense. There were times the unit bent, but they did a great job of bowing up and making stops when necessary. The Tigers allowed just 285 total yards and 40 rushing yards to the Wildcats and forced three turnovers. Special teams played a role as well, especially for K-State who missed three field goal attempts.
Auburn will play on Saturday for the first time in two weeks, and will host a 2-2 Louisiana Tech team that suffered an embarrassing 30-27 loss to FCS opponent Northwestern State Saturday.
