10. Tennessee Volunteers (2-1, 0-0 SEC)

Last Week’s Result: Idle

The schedule makers did Tennessee a favor by giving the Vols a bye week ahead of the SEC opener in Athens against the Georgia Bulldogs. Sure, UGA disposed of Troy easily, but Tennessee has been able to give the Dawgs their full attention for the better part of two full weeks.

  • Through the first three weeks of the season, the Vols have been most impressive on defense. The team allowed 34 points to national championship contender Oklahoma, but is surrendering an average of only 20 points per game to this point. Georgia, who is coming off a 66-point performance, will test the unit.

To win on the road next week, the Vols are likely going to need a great game from senior quarterback Justin Worley. The signal caller has performed well in 2014 – completing 70 of 120 passes for 721 yards and six touchdowns, but he has been picked off three times.

If the Vols’ young offensive line gives Worley enough time to throw, he should be able to make great use of a talented group of receivers. Unfortunately, Von Pearson won’t be part of that group this week. The junior has already been ruled out of the game against Georgia because of a high ankle sprain.
