One down, plenty to go.
No, it wasn’t the Tigers’ prettiest game. It might not have been with flying colors, but the 5th-ranked defending SEC champions passed their first major test of the season, beating a game 20th-ranked K-State team in Manhattan last Thursday night in a defensive slugfest.

Auburn’s defense played one of their best games since Gus Malzahn and company arrived, but the offense rarely looked the part of the well-oiled machine it is believed to be. However, the offense did just enough to seal a 20-14 win, and at the end of the day, all that matters for Gus Malzahn and Auburn is that the Tigers are still unbeaten.
Now, the Tigers get another breather before the meat of the schedule begins. After this game with struggling Louisiana Tech, the Tigers face currently ranked foes LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Georgia all in a row (with a bye week between Mississippi State and South Carolina).
This game will be all about fine-tuning for Auburn.
