Who would have thought prior to the season that this game would be the CBS game of the week? Personally, I expected both teams to struggle in 2014, but the Aggies have emerged as a national title contender following their Week 1 dismantling of South Carolina and three easy wins against non-conference opponents.

On the other hand, Arkansas is now a trendy pick to not only make a bowl game, but to make life very difficult for SEC opponents along the way. The reason is the Razorbacks’ top-notch rushing attack and quality offensive line as well as the overall confidence the team has shown under head coach Bret Bielema in recent weeks.
We called for Arkansas to beat Texas Tech in an outright upset two weeks ago because the Hogs matched up so well against a poor Red Raiders run defense. While the Aggies have looked much better on defense through four games, they haven’t faced a quality opponent in the last three weeks. The Razorbacks travelled to Lubbock and won, and then blasted a Northern Illinois team that would beat Lamar, Rice and SMU (A&M’s last three opponents) easily.
Texas A&M is a better football team, and they should win the game. However, the line opened at 15.5 and has dropped dramatically all week. If the game were at Kyle Field, I might be more bullish on the Aggies, but because it will be in Jerry World, expect a shootout and for A&M to win – but the Hogs to cover.
