3. James Brooks

James Brooks played from the 1977-1980 for the Tigers. He racked up 3,523 yards in his four years on campus. He was a back that was going to make a name for himself at Auburn early. He has 588 yards from scrimmage his freshman year and three touchdowns to go along with it.

Brooks was an Auburn running back that was definitely known for his consistency. He was consistent between the tackles, returning kicks, and catching the ball for five touchdowns within his career.

James Brooks holds records at Auburn University that still hold up to this day. He has the record for most all-purpose yards in a career with 5,596 yards and most kickoff yards gained in a career with 1,726.

Brooks finished his Auburn career with 23 touchdowns rushing and went on to have a twelve-year NFL career. He became a four time Pro Bowler and played with four different organizations in the NFL. He finished his career with 49 touchdowns and made his debut with the San Diego Chargers.

James Brooks will remain a prominent running back in Auburn history both for his records and his later success in the NFL.
