More from Auburn Football

This is the first monster Saturday of many to come in college football’s toughest division. Games on deck include #6 Texas A&M at #12 Mississippi State, #3 Alabama at #11 Ole Miss, and the focus of this article, #15 LSU at #5 Auburn.

Since Auburn and LSU became permanent opponents in 1992, the two Tigers have played numerous classic games. The Auburn-LSU Rivalry, or what some call the “Tiger Bowl”, has always served as a major factor in the race to the SEC Championship, and this year figures to be no different.

The stakes are high. Auburn is only at the beginning of the most brutal stretch in college football, so they can’t afford an early loss to LSU. The Bayou Bengals, meanwhile, have already suffered an early loss to Mississippi State and, with a new quarterback and newfound optimism, know an 0-2 start in the SEC West will essentially eliminate them from contention.
