Finally, the bulk of the non-conference games are finished and we can concentrate on a full slate of SEC matchups that will impact the race for the conference crown. Auburn will host LSU in a top 15 showdown that might normally be the Game of the Week, but instead may be the third best game in the division.

Last week, we squeaked out a winning 4-3 record thanks to Louisiana Tech’s close cover in Auburn’s blowout win. That means we’ve now won twice as many as we’ve lost in our weekly SEC picks against the spread. Our record had a shot to be even better when South Carolina held a solid lead over Missouri and New Mexico State hung with LSU for a quarter, but alas it was not to be.
Early Saturday, a rested Florida Gators team will travel to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Vols. UT fans will attempt to checker the stadium and pull out an important SEC East victory. Also at 11AM Central, Mississippi State will host Texas A&M in a game that features two teams in the top 12 in the nation. Raise your hand if you expected that in the pre-season.
The state of Mississippi has two huge games Saturday, the second of which includes Ole Miss hosting Alabama, which will kick at 2:30PM on CBS. At 4PM, Georgia will host Vanderbilt, and the prime time games include LSU at Auburn and South Carolina at Kentucky. Arkansas and Missouri are off this week. As we do every Friday at Fly War Eagle, we pick the rest of the league’s games, but save Auburn for Saturday morning.
Now on to business – and to dollars and cents. How will the teams fare against the spread?
