What a tremendous week it was on the field and for the fan bases across the Southeastern Conference – particularly those in the Magnolia State. At the sports books, however, the outcome was simply so-so, at least as far as our weekly SEC gambling picks against the spread are concerned.

More from Auburn Football

Last week, we were on the wrong side of Georgia’s blowout over Vanderbilt, Ole Miss’ upset of Alabama and Kentucky’s big home win against South Carolina. We were on the money for Auburn’s big win over LSU, Mississippi State’s victory over Texas A&M, and Florida’s late comeback to beat Tennessee (and called the outright upset to boot), but .500 is no way to make a living.

Last Week ATS: 3-3

This Season ATS: 31-17-2

This week in the SEC East, Georgia will travel to Missouri for an early Saturday showdown one day after suspending Todd Gurley, their best player and perhaps the best player in college football, for potential NCAA violations.

  • At the same time, Kentucky will have an opportunity to move to within one game of bowl eligibility against ULM, and Florida will host LSU. Other East teams Vanderbilt and Tennessee should have an easy time with Charleston Southern and Chattanooga, respectively (though because both are FCS teams, we will not pick the games against the spread).

Once again, there are three gigantic SEC West games to discuss. One week after falling in Oxford, the Alabama Crimson Tide must make the trek to Fayetteville, Arkansas for a date with the rested Razorbacks. Ole Miss will also be on the road, this week in College Station, where they are an underdog again. Of course, the game of the week is Auburn at Mississippi State, and we’ll have our prediction Saturday morning. Now, on to business, and to dollars and cents. How will the teams fare against the spread?
