Highly regarded coming out of high school, and even considered by some to be the country’s best recruit in the 2014 class, true freshman defensive end Myles Garrett has made an immediate impact for Texas A&M, and he’s already the best player the Aggies have on the defensive side of the football.

  • With 3.5 sacks last week against UL Monroe, Garrett broke Jadeveon Clowney’s SEC freshman record for sacks in a season. Garrett now has 11 sacks on the season, which ranks in the top five nationally. He ranks second in the SEC in sacks and is third with 12.5 tackles for a loss.

Julien Obioha starts at defensive end opposite Garrett, while Alonzo Williams and Ivan Robinson man the nose guard and defensive tackle positions, respectively. Obioha is far from the pass rusher Garret is and has only one sack for far.

Williams has been able to provide a pass rush from his inside position and has 3.5 sacks and 4.5 tackles for a loss. He is the only senior on the defensive line, which has increased its talent level since last year and should continue to improve in the future.
