After beginning his Arkansas career 0-13 in the SEC, can head coach Bret Bielema finally get over the hump? The Las Vegas odds makers and the betting public seem to think so.

Why would anyone think the Razorbacks will win this game? There are many reasons, but one is how well Bielema and his coaching staff have kept the team together through a difficult stretch of losses – several of them heartbreakers. It’s no small feat to keep a team’s spirits up over such a brutal stretch, but the Hogs have played well this season. Just not well enough.

“I’m amazed that they’re playing as hard as they have with as much socks in the stomach as they’ve gotten, so I’ve actually been pretty pleased,” Bielema said this week.

LSU suffered a heartbreaking loss of their own last week at home against Alabama. The Tigers had an opportunity to upset the Tide, but the defense couldn’t make one last stop, and Blake Sims led Alabama on a game-tying field goal drive with less than one minute left in the fourth quarter and a touchdown in OT.

All week, weather reports have called for snow in Fayetteville, and sloppy conditions for the game. If that holds, Arkansas’ smashmouth offensive style of play is certainly a point in their favor. But the Tigers can run the football too.
