The South Carolina Gamecocks went into Gainesville last weekend and pulled out a dramatic come from behind victory on the strength of two huge blocks by the special teams units, and an overtime rushing touchdown by Dylan Thompson. Carolina ended the Will Muschamp era in Florida and gained some momentum at the end of their SEC schedule. Now, a win over the Jaguars will make the Gamecocks bowl eligible.

South Alabama is already bowl eligible for the very first time, and finished their Sun Belt conference schedule with a 5-3 record. The Jags have played some good teams, including Mississippi State (a 35-3 loss in Week 2), and have Navy on the horizon. In their four losses this season, USA has averaged just seven points, so the South Carolina defense should have a good day.
After a disappointing beginning to the season, the Gamecocks may finally be turning the corner and setting themselves up for a good 2015 season. A win over Florida is exactly what they needed, and wins over South Alabama and Clemson are more than possible. Win both, plus a victory in a bowl game and Carolina will be riding a four game streak and an 8-5 record into next season.
But will they cover Saturday? To build momentum heading in next week’s rivalry showdown with Clemson, and through the end of the season, they’d better.
