Alabama: The Crimson Tide will play Missouri later today in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta. A win all but assures they will receive one of the four spots in the inaugural College Football Playoff. Head coach Nick Saban isn’t going anywhere, and coordinators Kirby Smart and Lane Kiffin haven’t been seriously mentioned as candidates for any current jobs, but both are future head coaching candidates, so it could happen.

  • Arkansas: After finally snapping a brutal losing streak in SEC football games, Bret Bielema has led the Razorbacks to a 6-6 record and a bowl game. His reward for that improvement was to become the prime candidate to become the new head coach at Nebraska. However, Bielema turned down the opportunity to move on and appears committed to the Hogs in the long term. No staff changes are expected right now.

Auburn: We’ve talked an awful lot about it already. Hours after the Tigers lost 55-44 to Alabama in the Iron Bowl, defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson was fired. Will Muschamp has emerged as the top candidate to replace Johnson, but he’s got plenty of options elsewhere.

Teams don’t often hire a new coordinator and keep the rest of the position coaches, so more changes are likely. As mentioned earlier, some fans have their fingers crossed Rocker will make it back to Auburn somehow, and current Florida defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson – another former Tiger – would be a welcome addition as well.
