Auburn Football: Linebacker Kris Frost Says No to NFL Draft, Will Return in 2015
As it turns out, the Auburn football team will only lose one junior to the 2015 NFL Draft. Junior linebacker Kris Frost announced via Twitter Thursday that he will be back next season.
After a month of wondering, Auburn football fans can rest easy.
With Sammie Coates, D’haquille Williams, Cassanova McKinzy, Avery Young and Kris Frost considering forgoing their senior seasons for the NFL Draft, things worked out nearly as well as could be expected since only Coates (who graduated, after all) exercised his option to turn pro early.
In a tweet Thursday, Frost announced he will be back on the field for the Tigers in 2015.
Frost had a a very good season for the Tigers in 2014 and capped it off in the Outback Bowl with 12 total tackles, including nine solo, and Auburn’s only sack in the 34-31 overtime loss to Wisconsin. The bowl game performance pushed Frost’s totals to 87 tackles – third on the team – and ten tackles for a loss. It also put him in a tie with defensive end DaVonte Lambert for the team lead with 3.5 sacks.

Following the game, Frost was still undecided about his future.
“I’m not sure right now,” Frost said. “I have to go home and talk it over with my family.”
However, the decision struck him suddenly this week, and he woke up his father around 3AM to tell him the news.
“Then I called my mom at 3 in the morning,” Frost told Charles Goldberg of auburntigers.com. “And I texted Coach (Travis) Williams, Coach Muschamp and Coach Malzahn. It was a big thing for me.”
Aside from improving his draft stock, Frost will have an opportunity to help turn around an Auburn defense that ranked in the bottom half of the SEC in scoring defense, rush defense, pass defense and total defense.
“I’m excited to come back and I feel like we have some unfinished business and I feel like we can win a championship,” Frost said.
With Frost returning next season, new Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp will have eight returning starters at his disposal. Only Vanderbilt is expected to have more among Southeastern Conference schools.
“Being able to be coached by Coach Muschamp was definitely one of the biggest factors playing into this,” Frost said. “It just seemed like all the stars were in line for me. I’m on track to graduate this summer, and talking to Coach Muschamp, and talking to him pretty much every day since he’s been back Auburn, he went to great lengths to really help me get all the feedback from NFL scouts.
“He’s showed me how much he knows and his knowledge about previous guys who have left, it seemed like he really cared. You can tell he cares about his guys. He’s been only around for 2 ½ weeks in Auburn, and he’s already showing how much he cares about the guys, and how much he cares about me. That went a long way for me.”
