  • Another Ohio State commit, Auburn made a great impression on the quarterback prospect during an official visit January 16.

A strong visit, coupled with a mountain to climb at the quarterback position in Columbus, has given the Tigers a lot of momentum on the Florida native.  He visited Baton Rouge last weekend, and the Bayou Bengals may be the dark horse to flip him.

Jay G. Tate, who has gone on record saying Auburn will land Gibson, brings up an interesting point, and provides a great reason not to count out Gus Malzahn:

"My other big surprise is Gibson. He’s probably a better fit at LSU, where competition at quarterback is less of an obstacle, but I believe Nick Marshall’s rise to national relevance really caught Gibson’s eye. He’s Nick Marshall. He has a similar skill set. He can be that guy — and being Nick Marshall is a very good thing in this offense."

Still, Gibson is committed to the Buckeyes, and LSU has more of a need at quarterback.
