Terry Godwin has been committed to Georgia for quite a while, and a week ago he told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he was “100% committed” to the home state Bulldogs. However, he was “a little confused” this weekend.
Gus Malzahn has let it be known that Godwin is one of his top targets. The Auburn football coach visited Godwin this weekend at Callaway High School, and Godwin cancelled an unofficial visit to Athens. On the surface, that appears to be good news for the Tigers, but it’s tough to tell for sure.
According to Godwin’s mother, who spoke with the AJC Saturday, Malzahn’s visit “went really well.” She also said that Malzahn made sure to point out that Auburn’s campus is closer to home for the five-star athlete. Somewhat controversially, that fact and Malzahn bringing it up relates to the health of Godwin’s father.
“They told him obviously that Auburn is closer to home,” Godwin’s mother Olivia Brown said. “And there’s the fact that his father is sick, so it would easier access to get and forth home if he went to Auburn. They also told him that Auburn was the best place for him offensively.”
AuburnUndercover ($) said the odds may be as high as 50-50, which is what we’re seeing as well.
Though Godwin is expected to commit privately Tuesday night, he will announce his decision at 5PM Wednesday.
