Since April 2014 when he committed to the Tigers, Kerryon Johnson has been the highest-rated high school player in the Auburn football recruiting class – and for good reason.

A 6-foot, 200-pound standout on both sides of the football, Johnson was recently named Mr. Football in the state of Alabama. He was also an Under Armour All-American and recently earned five-star status from ESPN.

As a high school senior, the Madison, Alabama native gained 1,659 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns on just 110 carries. Johnson also caught 22 passes for 598 receiving yards and eight TDs for Madison Academy, who won their third consecutive Class 3A State Championship. As a defensive back, Johnson totaled 71 tackles, six interceptions and forced five fumbles in 2014.

A three-time All-State selection, Johnson amassed 3,135 rushing yards and 74 touchdowns in his high school career, as well as 1,616 receiving yards and 29 more TDs.

Johnson will have an opportunity to play immediately as a running back and on special teams for the Tigers, but has the talent to contribute on defense as well (though it’s extremely unlikely he’ll see time on both sides of the ball).

Simply put, he’s one of the nation’s elite signees.
