  • With the de-commitment of Chris Westry in mid-January, the Tigers didn’t have a cornerback on their list. Luckily, shortly after an official visit to the Plains, Florida native Jeremiah Dinson committed to Auburn.

He became an official member of the 2015 Auburn football recruiting class Wednesday.

“I fell in love with the players and the coaches, especially Gus Malzahn,” Dinson said during his official visit in mid-January (and interestingly enough, while he was committed to the Kentucky Wildcats). “That was one of the greatest experiences I had up here. It just feels like home. I feel like this is the best choice for me. I really like Auburn.”

Dinson may not be considered a blue chip prospect today, but the obviously has a skill set that new defensive coordinator Will Muschamp likes and he could be in the mix for early playing time. At 6-feet and 180 pounds, Dinson has got decent size and has shown the ability to play receivers in man-to-man coverage.

But, most of all, he’s a cornerback and Muschamp needs to replace two of the team’s top three corners from last season’s squad. Dinson will compete with Joshua Holsey, Nick Ruffin, Kalvarez Bessent, and Joseph Turner for playing time.
