Bailey Sharp

Another early enrollee, Bailey Sharp will have an opportunity to make his mark and compete for early playing time during spring practice, giving him a leg up heading into fall camp.

However, like Tyler Carr, Bailey Sharp probably has an upward hill to climb to avoid redshirting in 2015. Starting tackles Shon Coleman and Avery Young will be back next season, as will upcoming sophomore Braden Smith, who started in the Outback Bowl, and Ole Miss transfer Austin Golson, who could end up at one of several positions on the offensive line.

In addition to the returning players ahead of him on the depth chart, Sharp is a bit light for his 6-foot-5 frame. He’ll need to fill out a little more with a full season in the strength and conditioning program, as well as the dining plan, to add weight and strength.

That said, Sharp is already quite strong, comes off the line of scrimmage with a good punch, and he’s quick and agile for his size. But, like many high school offensive linemen, Sharp’s technique needs work. He’s got a bright future, but he needs time to develop.
