National Signing Day 2015 Auburn Recruiting Class Recap
Things finally settled down late Wednesday afternoon, and National Signing Day is nearly over.
At 3PM Central head coach Gus Malzahn will meet with the media to discuss the 2015 Auburn recruiting class, and around that same time, the Tigers expect to receive a national letter of intent from one of the nation’s best players, Byron Cowart.

Live on ESPNU, Cowart committed to Auburn at a ceremony at Armwood High School in Florida around 8:10AM Central.
However, he did not immediately fax his NLI to Auburn, which led to wide spread concern and speculation as to whether or not he would indeed sign with the Tigers. Cowart – the nation’s top ranked player in the ESPN300 and third overall in the 247Sports Composite, had also considered signing with Florida.
“Both scholarships were signed and given to me,” Cowart’s high school coach Sean Callahan told ESPN. “He did not want to fax anything off. All he wanted to do was make a verbal commitment to Auburn. His family did not want anything faxed off until everybody feels clear on where he needs to be. He’s confused and still needs time. And he does have time to figure it out.
“His mother and mentor told him to hold up. … I have no idea when this will go off. I’m not in that circle right now with who’s making that decision.”
Regardless of the details, it’s moot point now.
At 3PM Central, Mike Farrell of Rivals reported that Cowart’s letter of intent had been received by Auburn University and he would soon be an official member of the Tigers recruiting class. Auburn football coach Gus Malzahn announced the paperwork had arrived during a press conference shortly thereafter.
As for the slightly less dramatic events of the day, the Tigers flipped offensive lineman Mike Horton from Florida in the morning and secured signatures from previously uncommitted players Darius Slayton, Carlton Davis, Ryan Davis, Jeffrey Holland and Javarius Johnson.

With the good news, the Tigers jumped three spots in the 247Sports national rankings to No. 9 overall and fourth in the SEC.
