One of the lowest points of the 2014 season for the Auburn Tigers was the 34-7 loss to Georgia in Athens. After a quick scoring drive in which Cameron Artis-Payne broke loose on a long run to take an early lead, the Bulldogs dominated Auburn on both sides of the football.
With that in mind, the Tigers will have revenge on their minds next November. Plus, if our early projections hold true, the 7-2 Tigers will be fighting for their lives in the race to win the west and make it to the SEC Championship Game.
Georgia must replace a lot of offensive firepower in 2015 – including quarterback Hutson Mason, running back Todd Gurley and leading receiver Chris Conley. They also will have a new offensive coordinator calling the plays after Mike Bobo left to become the head coach at Colorado State.
But with four starters returning on the offensive line and Freshman All-American Nick Chubb back from his 1,547-yard, 14-touchdown debut – the Dawgs should be just fine on offense. That will take a little pressure off the defense, which must replace several key contributors at every level.
It’ll be a tough game, but the home crowd gives Auburn the edge.
