After the Tigers likely open the season 2-0, the 2015 Auburn football schedule could take a turn for the worse in Week 3. The Tigers must travel to Baton Rouge to challenge one of the most talented teams in the SEC West and a perennial contender for the league title.
LSU returns nine starters on offense including rising sophomore running back Leonard Fournette, who ran for 1,034 yards and ten touchdowns as a true freshman and could contend for the Heisman Trophy next season. LSU also welcomes back one of the best groups of wide receivers in the SEC, if not the country led by Travin Dural and Malachi Dupre. The biggest concerns are restructuring the offensive line and getting more production from the quarterback position.
On defense, LSU must replace not only a handful of future NFL stars, but also defensive coordinator John Chavis, who left for Texas A&M. However, head coach Les Miles is very used to restructuring the team’s defensive personnel from year to year, so it’s unlikely the unit will see much of a drop off.
Auburn beat LSU handily at home last season, and LSU will have their hands full in Week 2 at Mississippi State, but given the location of this game and its timing on the schedule, Auburn will have a difficult time moving to 3-0.
