7. Stephen Davis, RB
There are running backs on this list that have more name recognition, flashier highlight tapes and better seasons, but no former Auburn football player has run for more yards or touchdowns in the NFL than Stephen Davis.
In 11 NFL seasons, Davis ran for 8,052 yards and 65 touchdowns and added 1,494 receiving yards and four more TDs on 179 career receptions.
After gaining 815 rushing yards combined across his first three pro seasons with Washington, Davis broke out with 1,405 yards on 290 carries and was selected to his first Pro Bowl in 1999. That season he led the NFL with 17 touchdowns and 100.4 yards a game in only 14 contests.
He was selected to the Pro Bowl again in 2000 after running for 1,318 yards and 11 touchdowns and added 1,432 yards on an NFL-leading 356 carries in 2001.
Davis’ third and final Pro Bowl season came as a member of the 2003 NFC Champion Carolina Panthers when he accumulated a career-high 1,444 rushing yards. He had 49 rushing yards on 13 carries in a 32-29 loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVIII.
A standout at Auburn from 1993-95, Davis ran for 2,811 yards and 30 touchdowns for the Tigers. He had 1,263 yards and 13 touchdowns in 1994 and added 1,068 and 14 rushing TDs in 1995 before being selected in the fourth round of the 1995 NFL Draft by Washington.
