Auburn Football Recruiting Update 1/25: Two Targets Expected to Make Decision This Week
National Signing Day is now just a little over a week away. After a weekend full of official visits here is another update on some of the changes with Auburn football recruiting targets.
Nate Craig-Myers – The four-star wide receiver recently announced his three finalist, which includes Auburn, North Carolina and Ole Miss. He also canceled his last official visit, which was supposed to be to Oxford, Miss. That certainly could be good news for the Tigers and Tar Heels. Nate still isn’t expected to make his decision until National Signing Day.
Derrick Brown – Georgia amped up its pursuit of Brown during his official visit over the weekend as the Bulldog crowd gave him a standing ovation at the basketball game. The Bulldogs are still the frontrunner for the five-star defensive tackle, but the Tigers have been creeping up and the coaches are making him their number one target down the stretch. Brown has one more official visit scheduled with Tennessee next weekend before making his decision on National Signing Day.
Lucas Niang – Niang took his last official visit this past weekend to Miami and he apparently will be making his college choice sometime this week, choosing between TCU, Auburn and the Hurricanes. The Horned Frogs are viewed as the favorite, but be looking out for this offensive lineman’s commit this week.
UPDATE: Niang made his decision on Monday and picked TCU.
E.J. Price – After his visit to the Plains this past weekend the four-star offensive tackle was singing the praises of the Auburn football coaching staff, specifically new offensive line coach Herb Hand. Georgia is considered the favorite and he still has an official visit with the Bulldogs next weekend, but USC and Auburn are also in the mix. The decision now seems to be a little less clear after his visit to Auburn as Price may be leaning towards the Tigers now. If the coaches can keep up their pressure this could be a huge land for Auburn leading up to National Signing Day.

Marlon Character – The Auburn football commit remains committed after his visit to Auburn over the weekend. He still has an official visit with Virginia Tech left on his schedule, and South Carolina is pushing hard to flip the three-star safety, but all signs are pointing towards him staying committed to the Tigers.
Joshua Uche – During his official visit to Michigan over the weekend the three-star linebacker committed to the Wolverines. Uche picked Michigan over Auburn and Florida. He was scheduled to take a visit to Florida this weekend but it’s unclear if he’ll still make the trip.
Breontae Matthews – After his visit to Missouri the past weekend the three-star junior college offensive lineman is expected to choose between Missouri, Kansas State, Auburn and Memphis today. Auburn came in late in their pursuit of Matthews, but hopefully it was enough to land the big lineman as the Tigers need someone that can step right in to replace the two junior offensive lineman that bolted to the NFL.
UPDATE: Matthews made his decision on Monday and picked Kansas State.
Ben Davis – The top prospect in the state of Alabama has moved the Crimson Tide to the top of its list after his official visit to Tuscaloosa this past weekend. The change puts Georgia at number two on his list and Auburn still sits at three. The Tigers will get the last chance to sway the five-star linebacker as he is scheduled to visit the Plains this weekend.
