As Auburn football gets closer to kick off against Clemson on September 3, we asked Andrew Boardwine from Rubbing the Rock a few questions as to where the team stands after spring practice.

Clemson went toe-to-toe with the hated Alabama Crimson Tide in last year’s National Championship game before losing in the fourth quarter, and this year expectations are high once again as many have Clemson as the favorite to return to the College Football Playoff and win it all this time.

A lot of that is due to the fact that they return one of the most talented players in college football in quarterback Deshaun Watson. He embarrassed the Alabama defense last year and will be the favorite to win the Heisman after just missing out on that trophy in 2015 as well.

Clemson and Auburn played three years in a row between 2010 and 2012 with Clemson winning the last two meetings. Auburn holds the all-time series lead 34-13-2, and held a 14-game winning streak over Clemson until the 2011 loss.

Auburn will try and get back to their winning ways against Clemson and make a huge statement to start the year with a win over the preseason No. 1 team.

As we get ready for that big matchup, Andrew gives us some perspective as to where Clemson is at after spring practice, and some players to keep an eye on come September 3.
