College Football Countdown: 5 Things That Could Derail Auburn’s Season
They Play Teams that Are Better
This college football season could be as simple as Auburn played teams that were better than them. The Tigers face one of the most challenging schedules in all of college football in 2016, if not the toughest.
They open up the season by playing the team who lost in the National Championship game a year ago, and end the season by playing the team who won the National Championship last year. I mean, come on!

Yes, Auburn’s first five games this college football season are at home, but in those five games they have to play Clemson, Texas A&M and LSU – and let’s not take Arkansas State and Louisiana Monroe for granted like we did Jacksonville State last year (Plus, it’s always a good time to mention that Alabama lost to Monroe back in 2007).
The fact is, Auburn could play much better football in 2016 but still not produce the win total we’re hoping for just because of the teams they’re having to face.
In the final seven weeks of the college football season Auburn will have to travel to face Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Georgia and Alabama. The one good thing is that none of those games are in consecutive weeks.
Auburn will most likely be an underdog in at least six of the games they play this college football season, so it’s possible that the Tigers just simply run up against a host of teams that are better than we are. That’s something I can live with, as long as we show up in those games and don’t get embarrassed like we did against LSU last year.
