Since there is little to no hope from media outlets that Auburn football will reach the College Football Playoffs in 2016, let’s take a look at what a college football playoff among the four greatest Auburn football teams of all-time would like.

The Tigers have put together some great teams over the years with National Championship teams in 1957 and 2010, among a few. They also had undefeated seasons in 1993 and 2004.

Many of these teams also included the greatest Auburn football players in the history of the university, so it will be fun to look back at some of our favorite Auburn football players of all time.

Here is how the seeding for the Auburn Football Playoff will go:

No. 1 – 2010 Auburn

No. 2 – 1957 Auburn

No. 3 – 2004 Auburn

No. 4- 1983 Auburn

There can be an argument made for other Auburn teams to be in the top four – and by all means please let us know if you think another Auburn team belongs – but these are the four we’re going to use for this exercise.

So in our first game we’ll have the 1983 Auburn football team led by Bo Jackson at running back against the 2010 Auburn football team that was led by Cam Newton at quarterback – wouldn’t that be fun to watch!

Then in our other semifinal matchup we’ll have the 1957 Auburn football team that had 18 players drafted into the NFL against the 2004 Auburn football team who featured two of the best running backs in Auburn football history. This would certainly be a game to watch if you loved running backs.

Before we get into our first matchup for the Auburn Football Playoffs, let’s meet the teams.
