Week 6: Auburn Football Players in the NFL – Frustrations Manifest for Cam
By Ty Roush
Here we list out the teams in the NFL that feature Auburn football players and their performance in week six.
With a ranked Arkansas coming to town on Saturday, Auburn will look to continue its winning ways.
A thrashing of Mississippi State followed up by a bye week, Auburn has returned to the SEC and the top 25.
The praise, though warranted, is in jeopardy with a true test in Arkansas. This statement, though warranted, has become an uncomfortable normality that looks to be defined as a characteristic of only the start of the season.
A rushing attack that highlights the SEC’s leading rusher, Rawleigh Williams III, Auburn will need to step up on defense in a way they have yet to show invincibility.
Even as it is impossible to be invulnerable to any football offense on defense, Auburn’s ability to fatigue and let up in the later quarters in uncanny.

Now is the time for change, and now is the time to show progression.
These characteristics, the need for change and progression, are paralleled to the Cleveland Browns.
The Browns, possessing the largest collection of Auburn players at five, are now without a win through six weeks of NFL action.
Even though this means that playmakers, like Ricardo Louis, will get more play time, change is needed for success.
Here is a list of Auburn players and their performance in the NFL:
Carolina Panthers
With Cam Newton back in play after returning from a concussion, the level of frustration remains for the Carolina Panthers. Though leading the charge in a comeback effort reminiscent of an Iron Bowl, Newton and the Panthers fell to the New Orleans Saints 41-38 on a field goal in the final moments.
Despite 322 yards and two touchdowns through the air, complemented with a rushing touchdown – which made him the leader in rushing touchdowns since he arrived in the league – Newton was unable to pull out a victory.
This evidently continues to take a toll on his psyche, as he returned to his immature ways in his press conference.
A week without Cameron Artis-Payne and a bothered Cam Newton, the Panthers are slowly seeing their season pull away from them.
Cincinnati Bengals
It’s a shame for a team as talented as the Bengals to have to return to New England and attempt to bring their season back toward success.
A game plagued with several fights, with penalties only being awarded to the Patriots, the Bengals are having some technical difficulties.
Ultimately losing to the New England Patriots 35-17, the Bengals could not have done much more.
Karlos Dansby, inside linebacker, had eight combined tackles and was consistently tasked with taking on James White and Rob Gronkowski toward the end zone, which did not prove well in his favor.
Pat Sims, defensive tackle, performed well with three combined tackles and managed a sack, but was not enough to slow down Tom Brady.
Offensively, C.J. Uzomah only picked up six yards on a single reception and has seen his playing time decrease.
Cleveland Browns
Oh, Cleveland.
It’s amusing to see how little is said about how much the Browns struggle. Now with six losses on the season, Cleveland’s quarterback situation alongside the usual inability to score, things are how they have always been.
Ricardo Louis shined as he has acquired more of a role on offense with five receptions for 65 yards, and was part of a wide receiver corps that has performed well in recent weeks.
Although the offense flirted strength in its ensemble, they were incapable of scoring more points than the Tennessee Titans in a 28-26 loss.
On defense, Corey Lemonier tallied a single tackle as offensive tackle Shon Coleman pushed the rushing attack for a fair 40 yards and a touchdown.
Kansas City Chiefs
Straight to the Chiefs.
Dee Ford shined for the Kansas City defense with five combined tackles and two sacks in a win over the rising Oakland Raiders 26-10.
Ford, who is developing at a steady pace at the linebacker position, is building a resume to potentially be a Pro-Bowl candidate.
Look for Kansas City to remain in the shadows in the AFC West.
Los Angeles Rams
This is not the Los Angeles team anyone thought they would have, but it’s the one they have been for the past two seasons. Shaky quarterback play spiced up with phenomenal, inexplicable quarterback play has the Rams in an OK position in a division that is typically dominated by the Seattle Seahawks.
In a rushing attack that featured offensive tackle Greg Robinson pushing the O-line for 76 yards and a score, the Rams were unable to stop the Detroit Tigers from taking an eventual 31-28 lead and the win.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints look dangerous. Drew Brees is who we thought he was, and his speedy weapons on offense are taking advantage of his arm strength.
They took the lead early, and despite a comeback bid by the Carolina Panthers, the Saints took a breather with a field goal in the final moments to take a win 41-38.
On defense, Nick Fairley was a menace to Cam Newton with three combined tackles and a half sack as the Saints continue to paint their contender personality.
San Diego Chargers
It’s an art form the way the Chargers have crushed the hearts of their fans. However, with a week six victory over a Denver Bronco team that hoped to remain in power in the AFC, the Chargers have the power to sneak back into their division.
With King Dunlap at offensive tackle performing at an All-Pro level, serving pancakes to a monstrous Bronco defensive line, the Chargers catered to 99 rushing yards and a needed 21-12 win.
