Here we take a weekly look at the performances of Auburn football players in the NFL in week 10 of play.
For the last 15 weeks of regular season play in the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs are rolling with a 13-2 record. Going unnoticed in a competitive AFC West, the Chiefs are the force hidden in the dark that the NFL has yet to accept.
With the Denver Broncos coming off a Super Bowl win, the Oakland Raiders returning to glory and the San Diego Chargers having their own fair share of drama on a weekly basis, the Chiefs are potentially the best team in the NFL — and no one knows it yet.
Falling to a 17-point deficit against Cam Newton’s Carolina Panthers, the Chiefs looked like the Chiefs everyone thought they were. A talented defensive line with stellar cornerback play and an offense that hasn’t quite taken that next step — that’s who the Chiefs have been since the era of Alex Smith began.

Now, thanks to linebacker Dee Ford taking a tie for the lead in sacks with 10, the Chiefs are the team who will storm back and take the lead with time expiring. They’ll take what they want, and they’ll leave without a trace. It’s time for everyone to recognize what they’re becoming before they get to be too much.
Here’s a look at other former Auburn players and their impact on the field in week 10 of the NFL regular season:
Baltimore Ravens
Cornerback Jerraud Powers took all he could get against the Cleveland Browns, taking on a confusing quarterback decision by the Browns and a failing offense. Recording his first interception of the season, Powers and the Ravens are returning to mediocrity with a week 10 win over Cleveland 28-7 in what realistically is just another bye week.
Carolina Panthers
Starting off the season going 3-5, the playoffs for the Carolina Panthers began in week 10 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Quarterback Cam Newton threw for 261 yards and a touchdown and an interception — that was returned for a touchdown and brought the Chiefs back into the game — while rushing for 54 yards on 12 carries. Newton and company will continue to lose games if they continue to fail on scoring opportunities and turnovers, and their offense must return to its former glory. Falling to the Chiefs 20-17 after Kansas City returned from a 17-point deficit, the Panthers must win out for the rest of the season for any chance of reaching the playoffs.
Cincinnati Bengals
Things are getting weird for the Bengals, a team laced with talent and superstars competing for mediocrity, as they took on the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Inside linebacker Karlos Dansby tallied four tackles alongside defensive tackle Pat Sims’ three, but was not enough to stop a potent Giant offense from taking a 21-20 lead. The Bengals have all the talent in the world, but they can’t help themselves from falling from expectations.
Cleveland Browns

For the Cleveland Browns, there are no expectations. Any success at all is welcome and evidently means nothing to the team in its entirety, with potentially one Pro Bowl nominee — outside of the routine Joe Thomas spot — on the entire roster. Even then, the Browns won’t be winning a football game this season.
A Thursday Night Football meeting against the old Cleveland Browns, it was hoped that this would be the first tallymark on the win column. Offensive tackle Shon Coleman pushed his team ahead for 33 rushing yards with linebacker Corey Lemonier getting just a single tackle in a struggling defensive effort in the loss against the Baltimore Ravens 28-7.
Kansas City Chiefs
Be afraid of the Chiefs.
Linebacker Dee Ford is tied for the lead in sacks at 10 as he recorded a sack against former teammate Cam Newton, assisting his team in a comeback effort against the Panthers. Defense and offense are finally pairing up well in Kansas City, as they are now 7-2 and tied for the AFC West lead after winning 20-17.
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints and the San Diego Chargers should play each other each week — they both know how to make a game fun to watch. Going against the Denver Broncos, the Saints matched up very well for the better part of four quarters before scoring a touchdown that would otherwise give them a 24-23 lead. However, Nick Fairley’s effort on defense for four tackles and a sack will go unnoticed as the PAT was blocked and returned to give the Broncos a 25-23 lead.
San Diego Chargers
The San Diego Chargers can’t catch a break, especially standing last in the AFC West without any hope of taking a lead. Offensive tackle King Dunlap pushed his running back ahead for 70 rushing yards, but was not enough in protecting his quarterback who threw the game away in the fourth quarter with four interceptions. Two of these coming in the final two drives — one returned for the go-ahead touchdown — the Chargers fell to the Miami Dolphins 31-24.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Running back Peyton Barber has taken the most of his opportunities with injuries abundant in the running back corps in Tampa Bay, rushing for 38 yards on 12 carries. Barber’s effort was just a slight addition to the Buccaneer effort against the Chicago Bears, as his team took a breather in the 36-10 victory.
