Here we discuss the NFL combine results of former Auburn football players Montravius Adams, Carl Lawson and Rudy Ford.

The three Auburn football players — Montravius Adams, Carl Lawson and Rudy Ford — at this weekend’s NFL Combine events performed well, often posting the top results for their position.

All three defensive players are expected to be drafted later this year, with Lawson the most likely to go in the first round. Defensive lineman Adams is seen as a second or third-round pick while Ford, a safety, could go in the sixth or seventh round.

Montravius Adams

Adams weighed in a 304 pounds and had a height of 6 feet 3 and 5.8 inches. His 4.87 seconds speed in the 40-yard dash was faster than Alabama’s Jonathan Allen’s 5 seconds flat, and his 22 reps in the 225-pound bench press beat Allen by one and ranked 30th among D-line players.

Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett, expected to be one of the top picks in the draft, had 33 reps and a 4.64 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Both were among the highs for the 49 defensive linemen at the Combine.

Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine, also at the Combine, singled out Adams as the toughest player he faced in college during media interviews.

Lawson, who weighed in at 261 pounds, wowed the scouts and coaches at the Combine with 35 reps during the bench press, the highest among any defensive lineman and tied for the highest of any player at the event in Indianapolis.

Lawson’s 4.19 seconds in the 20-yard shuttle as also tops among the defensive lineman. And his time of 4.67 seconds in the 40-yard dash was among the best of the D-lineman at the event. Haason Reddick of Temple had the best defensive lineman time at 4.52 seconds.

Rudy Ford

The defensive backfield players had yet to complete many of the skills sessions as of Sunday night, but Ford had already distinguished himself with 20 reps in the bench press, which tied for the high among safeties with Josh Jones of N.C. State.

The Combine draft analyst by Lance Zierlein states that Ford “will likely have to add some weight and try to prove himself as a backup box safety who can make plays on special teams.”
