Auburn softball outscored opponents 54-2 in the Wilson/DeMarini Classic in what could prove to be a big confidence builder before entering SEC play next weekend at home against weekend.

Auburn softball opened tournament play Friday night against Liberty. While the Flames kept it close through the first three innings, Auburn’s Kasey Cooper hit a bomb over the right field wall to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead through fourth inning.

Liberty added a run on an RBI single in the bottom half of the fourth.

Through five the score remained 5-1 when Auburn’s Casey McCrackin and Victoria Draper led off the top of the sixth inning with back to back singles. Carlee Wallace then unloaded on a fastball that landed somewhere in Loachapoka to make the score 8-1. A couple of batters later, Haley Fagan delivered the dagger with a solo shot to opposite field to finish off Liberty, 9-1.

Makayla Martin went five innings on the mound for the Tigers, giving up one run while striking out five. Ashley Swindle came on to close out the sixth inning securing a win for Auburn.

Auburn carried it’s momentum into Saturday while making quick work of College of Charleston in the first game of the afternoon, 14-0 in five innings.

The Tigers were paced by a seven run first inning, which gave Auburn a chance to go deep into the roster to allow playing time for several younger players.

Auburn was led by Alyssa Rivera, who finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a  double, and her first home run of the season, a high shot just left of the right field foul pole.

Carlee Wallace continued her hot streak going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Kendall Veach also added two hits and two RBI.

Kaylee Carlson continues to be one of the more dominant pitchers in the nation as she picked up her 10th win, going three innings while striking out three.

In the nightcap Saturday against Texas State, the Auburn bats started off cold, but heated up with a seven run sixth inning to put away the Bobcats, 8-1.

Texas state led through four before Haley Fagan put Auburn on the board with an RBI triple in the bottom of the fifth.

Auburn’s Jenna Abbott came up clutch  as a pinch hitter with the bases loaded in the Sixth. Abbott ripped a two run double to give Auburn a 3-1 lead.

The Tigers weren’t done as they scored two more on a ground ball from Victoria Draper and a sacrifice from Carlee Wallace made it 5-1.

Kasey Cooper made it 6-1 with her fourth home run of the year, a solo shot to center. Two batters later, Kendall Veach added a two run shot to finish off the scoring at 8-1.

Makayla Martin got the win going six innings allowing one run, two hits, and striking out eight.

In Sunday’s finale, Auburn used a three run second inning to carry momentum the rest of the way against College of Charleston.

The Tigers’s got on the board when Jenna Abbott scored on a passed ball. Kasey Cooper then hit a rocket to the wall for two more runs to make it 3-0.

Auburn pulled away with five more runs in the fourth inning, and never looked back.

One thing that has been a concern on the season is leaving runners on base. Sunday afternoon, Auburn was able to take advantage of nine walks issued by College of Charleston. The Tigers finished with only five hits, but came up clutch with runners in scoring position.

Kasey Cooper paced the tigers going 2-3 with four RBI, while Kaylee Carlson picked up her 11th win on the season.
