2. Kevin Greene, linebacker, Los Angeles Rams

Kevin Greene was drafted in the fifth round, 113th overall, by the Los Angeles Rams in 1985 after he was a walk-on at Auburn. He was won the Zeke Smith Award as Defensive Player of the Year for the 1984 Tigers.

Greene went on to play 15 years in the NFL, including the first eight for the Rams, and he finished his career with 160 sacks, which is third all-time in the NFL. He made five Pro Bowls and was an All Pro twice. Greene had at least 10 different sacks in 10 different seasons.

He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015. For a fifth round pick whom many thought was too small — he was just 6-foot-3 and weighed 250 pounds — to play in the NFL, that’s a huge draft-day steal. He would have been our No. 1 Auburn steal if he had been drafted any lower.
