DB Jamel Dean

NFL scouts are probably drooling over Jamel Dean. He’s 6-2, 210 pounds and plays corner.

But he gained attention recently when Bruce Feldman of The Athletic listed Dean as No. 10 on his annual list of college football’s biggest freaks. Don’t worry, that’s a good thing. He joins former Tigers Braden Smith, Carl Lawson and Sammie Coates as Tigers honored by Feldman.

Dean’s college career got off to a bumpy start and he missed all of 2016 with an injury after transferring from Ohio State. But last season he slowly worked his way into the rotation and finished with 43 tackles and eight pass breakups. He’s expected to step into the No. 1 CB role vacated by Carlton Davis, who was drafted in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
