Auburn football: Tracking every award list, All-SEC selection, freak and speedster

Maxwell Award
The Maxwell Award is given to college football’s player of the year each season.
Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield won the award last season, but the SEC has done well in regards to the Maxwell. Alabama’s Derrick Henry won it in 2015, AJ McCarron in 2013 and Auburn’s only winner of the Maxwell, Cam Newton, won it in 2010.
Florida’s Tim Tebow is one of only two players to win the award twice when he brought home the Maxwell Award in 2007 and 2008.
Jarrett Stidham is on the preseason watch list after throwing for 3,158 yards and 18 touchdown passes. Stidham had a pair of 300-yard passing games last season and eight with at least 200 yards. After a season in the system and working with now-second year offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, the Auburn passing game is expected to flourish more than it did in 2017.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award are announced Oct. 29 and the three finalists will be named Nov. 19. The winner is revealed Dec. 6 on the Home Depot College Football Awards show.
